Hi David,

     Hello Jay,

Thanks for the info as it seems the testing i'm doing will be of no use to this mailing list.
Are there currently and formats that you are working on that you would like sample files for?

In general, I would say that the list(ideas for future development at
http://www.documentliberation.org/projects/
+ planned : iWork Pages, iWork Numbers ) can give a good list of files which can be useful in
some near future...
Well some people i know have macs so i'll see if i can get them to create some iworks pages and
numbers files. I think it might be a great idea to create some sample files with basic features
that would be in their functionality and ask users who want to send in samples, to submit ones
that are similar to them.
Note: personally, for the libwps library, as I am trying to see if we can retrieve the main
content of wdb files,
I am actually looking for WDB Microsoft Works for PC files and also for some WKS files, I have
only
a few numbers of them :-~

For wdb files, you might like to check out <
http://www.codealchemists.com/worksdatabaseconverter/ > and maybe we can make a donation to them
to open source their code. I will check if anyone i know still has microsoft works on an old pc
so i can get you more samples.
We can try and/or see if he/she/they want to participate to the Document Liberation project…

In fact, I begin to work on some WDB files and their structures seem quite similar to the
WKS structures :-)
Of course, some new zones exist to code reports and probably forms, 1D-formula… , but I begin to be
able to
extract some of the database content ( which is what I want to convert as I can only convert these
files in spreadsheet ), …

But it would be nice to have guidelines of the samples you need.
In general, I mainly want to have as many test files as possible. Ie. I use some scripts to
detect unexpected
content and I check by hand that some conversions are « good » or not ( but as I am working on so
many formats in
libmwaw, I may miss something ).
Concerning libwps as I do not have any way to launch the latest versions of Microsoft Works
for PC, also having
some files converted in pdf will be clearly better….

Jay Philips

PS: for Jay, sorry for the duplicated email, but as I have done a reply instead of a reply all…
